H2O2 or Hydrogen Peroxide Therapy, The next step I took

I know it’s been just over 2 years since I last posted about the beginning of my healing journey so I would like to return to that line of thought.  It’s hard not to just jump ahead and get to what I’m doing now, but I promised I would talk about this.

The next thing I tried was Hydrogen Peroxide Therapy.
Now this is not the brown bottle peroxide that you pick up at your local pharmacy.  This is actually a dangerous chemical if not handled safely.  But if you have been through high school, you’ve probably been through some sort of chemistry class and done lab time.  Lab time should have taught you to wear gloves, cover your body, preferably with a smock or apron and make sure you have a clear work area to decrease the chances of spilling.  I give this warning now because if I don't some might accidentally hurt themselves and I don't want that to happen.  I want the experience to be a good one, because done properly it is one of the best things I've done for my body.

Dry Spice Tea as Pain Relief

In my never ending search to reduce my intake of over the counter pills and prescriptions I have come accross a couple of herbal mixtures that actually do help and dont have to break the bank.

My personal mix is evolving every time I make it.  I call it Turmeric Chia Tea and it includes:

(Updated) Food Sensitivity and the Elimination Diet - How it helped me

Close to the beginning of my arthritis diagnosis I was in so much pain that I could barely walk, even with a cane.  I couldn't put on my own socks or trim my own nails, because my hands had turned into painful claws.  I needed help in an out of the tub, even for a shower.  Pain, intense non-stop pain, had become my life.  Even being allowed to self medicate with Tylenol 3's (T3), regular Tylenol, Ibuprofen and Prednisone  I had little to no relief.  I had trouble getting a good nights sleep, because there were no comfortable positions.  My husband's sleep was also affected because he was afraid to accidentally bump me, and because occasionally I would moan.  I couldn't help the moaning, it just came out.  I was given 3 weeks off work for the medications to start working.  I started keeping a very detailed food and medication journal at this point.

I am fortunate to have a very understanding, caring and supportive husband.  He would help me get dressed, help me in and out of bed, anything that I needed while he was home and until the pain pills kicked in.  He would do anything for me, even though he was working full time.

Eventually, after blood tests confirmed that it was indeed arthritis inflammation, Plaquenil was added into the mix, with advise to stop taking the Ibuprofen.

My Medical App Review

This will be a review on My Medical App for iPad and Mac desktop by Hyrax Inc.
My Medical App for Mac Desktop

I bought this app initially as an iPad app years ago, probably in 2010 when I first got my iPad. I loved it right off the bat. It has many features that are necessary to track a complicated medical history, which those of us with Rheumatoid Arthritis or other chronic conditions have. It has the ability to track history for you and your entire family with the following fields:
  • Medication, with an option to make some current or past. A prescription reminder and an area for dietary supplements
  • Test Results, with to many fields to summarize here
  • Allergies
  • Immunizations
  • Surgical Procedures
  • Diagnoses
  • Episodes and Injuries
  • Physicians
  • Office Visits
  • Upcoming Test
  • and so much more…

Ideal Water Consumption for Weightloss

I've mentioned before that I had weight gain issues at the beginning of my journey. There were allot of contributing factors to that weight gain, including depression, malnutrition and lack of exercise. In the beginning, being a victim was easy. After all "How could I fix the issue if I couldn't exercise?". At that point in time I didn't know that there were weight loss alternatives that didn't involve major diet changes and exercise. Don't get me wrong, diet changes and exercise are still highly recommend, but not the whole picture.
Carrying excess weight on your body when you have Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) puts extra strain on already inflamed joints.
If you have RA and you are overweight or obese then your doctor has probably mentioned something like the above statement to you.

Flooding my body with water is something I used to help me loose the weight.

2007 History - Weight Issues and Pain….

In the months following the demise of the Beer and Wine Store Girl, I became a victim. "He was overfeeding me," and "I can't…" and I struggled with my weight gain.

I blame part of the weight gain on the sudden shift from party girl to home body. For 2 years I had subsisted on caesars, beer, cider, V8 and dancing. I think V8 was one of the only things keeping me going, other than the constant sugar rush of barley and hops trying to turn into something that could sustain my body. Pairing that with the decline in work related weight lifting and in dancing I was no longer burning the calories that I was taking in. And boy was I taking them in.

I could blame some of my weight gain on my new relationship, I wouldn't have served myself those humongous portions, but I also didn't have to eat everything that was on my plate. My boyfriend, having a giving personality, would heap portions that were at least double what a normal girl my size would serve herself. I called them man portions. Being in the new relationship I didn't want to offend so I would eat everything that he would serve me. Big mistake (in more ways than one).

Trying to find my Niche…. a beginning that ends with the Beer and Wine Store Girl

I've been surfing the web for years and have come across many blogs that covered many subjects, and have been mulling over the idea of starting my own blog.  But, the big question has always been, what do I want to write about.

I've spent the day researching blogs, what they are; why they are; and what is the best way to get your blog noticed.  During my web crawl I came across the words "niche blogging" more than once.
"Niche blogging is the act of creating a blog with the intent of using it to market to a particular niche market. While it could be argued that every blog is, in some form, a niche blog, the term as it applies to marketing refers to a particular kind of blog." (Per the dictionary app on my mac.)
There are more than a few blogs on how to get started.  I won't regurgitate those here.  But the concept of "niche blogging" got me thinking.  What have I been researching all of these years?  What am I passionate about?  How will my blog contribute to the blogging community?  Is my voice worth hearing?
